An Older Man Is In Critical Condition After Being Hit By A Car In Prescott Valley Tuesday

An older man is critically injured after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Prescott Valley on Tuesday. Police say 72-year-old Dennis Steinbauer was riding near the intersection of East Frontage Road and North Starlight Drive at around 8 p.m. when a 1995 white Honda Civic hit Steinbauer and then left at a high rate of speed with front end damage and a broken windshield, according to witnesses. Steinbauer was found unconscious and suffered severe head trauma. He was airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital where he remains in critical condition. A short time later, officers found the car with front end damage that matched the evidence at the scene. Police arrested 49-year-old Brian Lee Benovsky and booked him on three counts of hit and run with serious injury, aggravated assault and endangerment.
