A citizen’s quick action to call 911 about a reckless driver avoided a bigger problem Tuesday evening in Prescott Valley. Police say a person called dispatch at around 6:15 p.m. to report the driver in the area of Viewpoint and State Route 89A. Based on the vehicle description, officers were able to find it quickly. In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to yield and drove onto easements of people’s yards, nearly hitting mailboxes and ditches. When the driver finally stopped, officers found him very intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to yield. Blood tests are pending. Police thank the person who called 911 after seeing the driver. Those actions likely saved people from injury or even death. As always, if you see something, say something.
