A Wind Advisory and Red Flag Warning have been issued for Monday as high winds are expected across Northern Arizona. The Wind Advisory has been issued for Flagstaff, Williams, Munds Park and parts of the Navajo Nation such as Tuba City, Shonto, Cameron, Leupp and Navajo National Monument. Winds are expected to be 20-to-30 miles an hour with gusts to 35-to-45 miles-per-hour at times. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect for areas in southeastern Coconino County and much of Navajo and Apache counties, including Winslow, Holbrook, Chinle and Kayenta. Winds are expected to be the same speed as the advisory area, however a Red Flag Warning means conditions are ripe for a wildfire to spread quickly if it starts due to high winds and low humidities. The Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Wind Advisory will be in effect from noon until 7 p.m. If you are traveling during this time, especially on Interstate-40 and Highway 89, use caution and make sure if your pulling a trailer that chains are secured and not dragging on the pavement and don’t toss cigarettes out of the window.
