ADOT To Conduct Intermittent Closures Of State Route 89A Next Week Through Oak Creek Canyon

ADOT will be conducting intermittent closures of State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon overnight next week. The closure will take place Tuesday night from 9 p.m. until Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. 89A will be closed to traffic through the switchback portion of the roadway near the Pumphouse Wash Bridge. The 15-minute, non-consecutive full closures may occur up to twice per hour during that time. Drivers should be prepared to stop and use caution around construction personnel and equipment, or consider using an alternate route, while the closure is in place. The restrictions are needed as crews continue working on the bridge rehabilitation portion of the State Route 89A Oak Creek Canyon Improvements project, which also includes rockfall mitigation and erosion control work.
