One Person Injured In An Accidental Shooting At A Flagstaff Walmart Thursday

One person was injured in an “accidental shooting” Thursday afternoon at the Walmart on Huntington Drive in Flagstaff. Police responded to the parking lot in the 26-hundred block of East Huntington Drive on reports of a person shot at around 3:30 p.m. Upon arriving they found 33-year-old Nathaniel Koonce of Flagstaff with a gunshot wound to the leg. Investigators reviewed security video and saw the man standing at the bus stop alone, when the firearm went off, causing the injury. He refused to identify himself and provided false information about what happened. Koonce was the only person involved in the incident. He was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment of the injury after the bullet was lodged between his muscle and skin. Koonce was arrested at the hospital for an outstanding felony warrant, as well as charges related to the incident.
