The Arizona Board of Regents has begun the process of finding a successor to Dr. Rita Cheng as president of Northern Arizona University. Regent Chair Larry Penley said Thursday that regent members Lyndel Manson and Fred DuVal will co-chair a search committee to pick the 17th president of NAU. Penley says the two will “move immediately to begin to gather information from the public and the various constituents of Northern Arizona University.” He adds, they would like to know what the constituents “would like to see, both for NAU in its future and also the kind of leader they would like to see to lead following President Rita Cheng as her successor.” Cheng announced she would not be looking for a contract extension when her contract ends in June of 2022. She will remain as president until a new president is hired.
