ABOR Approves Dr. Jose Luis Cruz As NAU’s 17th President.

The Arizona Board of Regents approved Dr. Jose Luis Cruz as the 17th president of NAU Wednesday. After he was approved, Dr. Cruz said “I am honored and excited to officially join the Lumberjack family, and thank the Arizona Board of Regents for the trust it has placed in me.” He adds, “I cannot wait to begin working with NAU students, faculty and staff members – as well as the entire Flagstaff community and those who entrust their educational journeys to NAU online and statewide – as we build upon this institution’s wonderful legacy of educational opportunity and transformative change.” Cruz recently served as the executive vice chancellor and university provost at The City University of New York. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and his doctorate from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Cruz will take over as president of NAU on June 14th.
