A Wildfire Breaks Out Near Munds Park

A wildfire started Tuesday afternoon near Munds Park. Pinewood Fire officials say the Munds Fire was one mile northwest of Munds Park behind Munds Ranch Road and right off of Interstate-17. Crews from Pinewood and Highlands fire departments, along with Coconino National Forest crews, responded to the fire and it was contained by 8 p.m. The fire was held to nine acres and the cause of it is not known. Even though the fire was close to Munds Park, there were no evacuation orders given.
