A Tuba City man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in connection with the 2020 killing of his girlfriend outside a Flagstaff apartment complex. Back on June 23rd of 2020, officers were called to the 200 block of West High Country Trail at around 11:06 p.m. after reports of multiple gunshots in the area. When they arrived they found 34-year-old Jessica Biakeddy of Gilbert lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began life-saving efforts on her until medical personnel arrived. She was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. During the trial, it was revealed she was in an argument with her boyfriend, 29-year-old Justin Colorado, through most of that day. The two went to Slide Rock in the afternoon where Colorado had been drinking. The two were at her sister’s house, with Colorado staying in the car. When she came out, she broke up with him. Soon after, Colorado pulled a gun and eventually shot her ten times, the final one in the face at close range. Colorado was identified as the boyfriend and primary suspect in the shooting at the time. He was found near Native Route 21 on the Navajo Nation the next day and was taken into custody without incident. The now 31-year-old Colorado is facing life in prison. Sentencing is set for June 14th.
