A Skull Valley man was arrested Monday after he was reportedly shooting a gun while traveling along Highway 89 in Yarnell. The mother of 24-year-old Zane Winther called authorities saying her son was a passenger in the car and was intoxicated when he began waiving a handgun. She told them he threatened to shoot someone. Shortly after making the threats, Winther fired a round through the windshield of the moving car. He then left the car and his mom called 911. Deputies searched the area and learned he had got into a black SUV. Deputies found the SUV at Foothill Road and Mountainaire Drive in Yarnell. During his arrest, Winther was disorderly and made threats to the deputies. He didn’t have the gun on him at the time, but a neighbor later found it in a nearby field. Winther has been charged with endangerment, a weapons offense, assault and threatening. He remains in custody without bond.
