The Salvation Army is dispatching an Emergency Disaster Services team to help the Navajo Nation and those affected by recent flooding in Chinle. The team will be set up and begin providing around 600 meals per day, starting Tuesday, for people affected by the flooding. Officials say the situation is improving, after snow runoff sent high water through the area. Roads in and around Chinle, reopened over the weekend after the Tsaile and Wheatfield reservoirs overflowed its banks and sent water into the town. The Salvation Army expects the team to be in the community for a week to ten days, but will stay as long as needed. If anyone has questions or needs help in flooded areas on the Navajo Nation, call (928) 383-7121.
