Flagstaff Police arrested a Leupp man Saturday after an attack on officers. Police responded to the 33-hundred block of East Elder Drive at around 11:11 p.m. on a domestic violence call. When officers arrived they met the victim, who directed them to a vehicle parked near a basketball court. Officers found 37-year-old Byron Tso in the trunk. After repeated requests to get out of the trunk, Tso did and approached one of the officers telling him to shoot him. When the officer refused, Tso began punching the officer, hitting him in the head. The other officer tazed Tso, which had no immediate effect. Tso’s attack on the first officer rendered him unconscious. The second officer grabbed Tso and was immediately assaulted. Tso broke free and ran. The second officer caught up to him and grabbed him. Tso started attacking him again with several strikes to the head. Tso tried to flee to the house, but was restrained by the second officer. The first officer regained consciousness and helped arrest Tso. The suspect tried to grab the officer’s taser, but failed. All three were treated for injuries suffered in the exchange. Tso was arrested and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on multiple charges related to the incident, including assault of a law enforcement officer, criminal damage and domestic violence.
