A High Speed Chase Leads To An Officer-Involved Shooting In Prescott Valley

Prescott Valley Police arrested a man after a high speed chase and an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night. Police were notified about a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Highway 69 at around 6:32 p.m. When officers caught up to the truck, it was entering Prescott Valley at Stoneridge. The driver, 28-year-old Alfredo Saldivar, drove erratically and reached speeds of 120 miles per hour. Officers began stopping traffic at intersections to prevent accidents from occurring as the driver continued to drive into oncoming traffic. As the driver drove northbound on Lake Valley, he made a U-turn and attempted to ram a police vehicle. The officer opened fire on the suspect after fearing for his life. The driver then drove toward Glassford Hill Road and Highway 69, where he hit another vehicle. That vehicle’s driver suffered minor injuries. The suspect continued on to the Frontier Village Shopping Center in Prescott, where he abandoned the truck and fled on foot. A Prescott Valley K-9 was deployed and the suspect was found a short time later. He was placed into custody and transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Saldivar has been booked on charges of unlawful flight, aggravated assault upon law enforcement, criminal damage, endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. He is being held without bond. No officers were injured in the incident and the case is under investigation.
