A Fentanyl Overdose Lead To A Single-Vehicle Accident Thursday Night In Prescott Valley

A fentanyl overdose led to a crash and arrest Thursday night in Prescott Valley. Prescott Valley Police were called to the intersection of East Florentine Road and North Golden Way at around 7:43 p.m. for a single-vehicle accident, with witnesses reporting the driver was unresponsive. When officers arrived they saw the man in the driver’s seat of a Chevy Silverado that crashed into a ditch and got stuck. Officers noticed the driver’s foot was still on the gas pedal and the engine was still revving. A witness told officers they reached into the truck and put it into park. Officers then used Narcan on the man, which resulted in him regaining consciousness. He was transported to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center. During the investigation it was learned that the man, 27-year-old Charles Broan, had been using fentanyl while driving, resulting in him overdosing, becoming unconscious and crashing his truck. Broan was arrested and charged with DUI drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Yavapai County Jail. Additional drug test results are pending, which could lead to additional charges.
