A cyclist suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a car Sunday morning in Prescott. Police say the accident happened at around 11 a.m. on White Spar Road and State Route 89 at Haisley Road in Prescott. When officers arrived they found that the cyclist had significant injuries and several people stopped to render aid, including applying a tourniquet to a badly injured area while others attempted to stabilize the rider. The cyclist is a 38-year-old Scottsdale man, who was riding northbound on State Route 89 when a vehicle driven by an 87-year-old Prescott woman, turned in front of him causing the cyclist to hit the side of the SUV. The impact threw the cyclist from the bicycle, coming to rest in the middle of the road. The driver of the SUV failed to yield and stated she didn’t see the man. He was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center and was later airlifted to a Phoenix hospital. He is reportedly in serious but stable condition. The woman was issued a civil citation for failing to yield while making a left turn. State Route 89 at White Spar Road was closed at Haisley Road for a period of time so officers could conduct an investigation and clear the scene.
