A Cottonwood man was arrested early Thursday morning in connection with a domestic dispute. Cottonwood Police responded to a home in the 100-block of South 9th Street for a third party request of a welfare check on one of their family members. The person who called police told them they had concerns that two people inside were having a domestic dispute. When officers got to the home they were met by a female who ran to them for safety. Officers discovered she had been assaulted repeatedly throughout the night by 33-year-old Devin Sprecher of Cottonwood and held against her will. She sustained several injuries from the assault, but nothing life threatening. Sprecher refused to come out of the house when asked by authorities. The Verde Valley SWAT and Negotiations Team was called to the house. After several hours, they deployed diversionary devices and Sprecher turned himself over to law enforcement. He was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on multiple felony domestic violence related charges. Sprecher had been arrested back on August 26th on a weapons charge involving a gun and threatening and intimidating per domestic violence. He was released then and ordered to stay away from the residence.
