A Cottonwood Man Is Arrested In Connection With A Hit-And-Run Accident

A Cottonwood man was arrested Friday night after a hit-and-run accident. Police responded to the Walmart parking lot after a caller to 9-1-1 says a man parked his truck by the grocery pick-up area, got out and gestured to a person that he wanted to fight them. When officers arrived, 24-year-old Jose Angel Castro ran off into a nearby ditch. After a short pursuit, Castro was taken into custody. Castro’s breath alcohol level was .173, which is more than twice the legal limit. He has been booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center on two felony charges of aggravated DUI and endangerment. He was also booked on two misdemeanor charges of leaving the scene of an accident and disorderly conduct. Castro also had a non-extraditable warrant out of New Mexico for DUI.
