A Colorado Man Was Arrested Wednesday After Attempted Armed Robberies In Flagstaff And Munds Park

A Colorado man was arrested Wednesday after attempted armed robberies in Flagstaff and Munds Park. The first happened at 1:47 p.m. at the Swift Travel Center near the Flagstaff Airport. A man walked inside and tried to buy dog food. He handed the clerk money and when the drawer opened he had a handgun at his waist and demanded money, but the clerk didn’t hand any over to him. Flagstaff Police arrived just after he left southbound on Interstate-17 in a blue Dodge Durango. Then a short time later Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Chevron gas station in Munds Park, after a clerk told 9-1-1 operators they had just been robbed at gunpoint. The clerk told the operator the man left the store and continued south on I-17 in a vehicle matching the same description with Colorado plates. At around 2:33 p.m., DPS state troopers saw the vehicle matching the description of what the suspect was driving, south on I-17. The suspect failed to stop for the troopers and a pursuit ensued. The chase ended after stop sticks were laid out, bringing the suspect’s vehicle to a stop on I-17 in the Camp Verde area. The man was identified as 39-year-old Christopher Williams of Westminster, Colorado. He was taken into custody and booked on several felony charges. The case remains under investigation.
