A Colorado City man drowned at Lake Powell Sunday. Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the lake’s main marina in the Wahweap District at around 7:58 p.m. Officials say 31-year-old Jacob Jessop jumped in the water near slip F-3 and never came up. Divers recovered the body Monday morning at 249 feet below the surface. Officials say Jessop appeared to have been become tangled in wires and cables at about 20 feet below. Visitors to Lake Powell are reminded about the dangers of swimming in marinas, which has led to it being prohibited. The incident is under investigation. This is the third drowning in over two weeks, the second in two days, at Lake Powell.
