A 42-year-old California woman was injured after she was involved in a rollover accident Wednesday night in Cottonwood. A Cottonwood Police officer saw a vehicle traveling westbound on Mingus Avenue at around 8 p.m., going about 85 miles per hour. The officer turned around and made attempts to catch up to the woman, but by the time the officer found the vehicle, it had left the road and crashed in the 600 block of East Mingus Avenue. No other vehicles were involved. The woman was the only person in the vehicle and had to be extricated. She was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The initial investigation has determined the driver lost control of the vehicle likely due to excessive speed. The investigation is ongoing to determine if any other factors influenced the accident.
