A 74-Year-Old Florida Woman Is Arrested After Fleeing From Police Saturday

A 74-year-old Florida woman was arrested in Cottonwood Saturday after she fled from police, after she was seen driving erratically in Sedona. Authorities say Sedona Police tried to make a traffic stop on a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek driven by Laura Duffy, who refused to stop after police discovered she was driving on a revoked driver’s license. As she left Sedona, police turned the pursuit over to Cottonwood Police, who started pursuing Duffy on Highway 89A near Bill Gray Road. They tried to stop the vehicle on 89A and Rocking Chair Ranch Road. Duffy didn’t pull over and failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of 89A and State Route 260, nearly hitting several vehicles. Duffy stopped at South Main and East Cottonwood streets where officers tried to remove her from the car, but she quickly left as the stoplight turned green and drove to Clarkdale. She was seen by Clarkdale Police, driving recklessly on Main Street. It was during this pursuit, Clarkdale Police spotted Duffy driving the wrong way on State Route 89A heading back to Cottonwood, where police successfully deployed stop sticks causing two tires to go flat. The car was stopped after Cottonwood Police did a PIT maneuver. However, Duffy tried to escape by backing into one of the police vehicles. She was arrested without further incident. Duffy was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center on numerous felony charges. During a check, police discovered Duffy was stopped in Flagstaff back on June 30th by State Troopers for driving the wrong way on Interstate-40 and obstruction of a public thoroughfare.
