Yavapai County Search and Rescue officials are still searching for a man who went missing in the Granite Basin area around two weeks ago. Deputies and volunteers are looking for 63-year-old Jeffrey Gordon Stambaugh of Tucson, who hasn’t been seen since September 30th at around 10:30 a.m. within the Granite Basin Recreation Area. Officials say he arrived in the area on Tuesday, September 27th and sent a text message to a friend in the area, asking if they’d like to meet up at some point. The friend later reported Stambaugh missing. On September 30th, Stambaugh asked the camp host to charge his phone. He left it and hasn’t been seen since. On Wednesday, Maricopa County Search and Rescue used underwater sonar equipment to see if they could find anything, but was unsuccessful. Over 100 people have been looking for Stambaugh and no clues have surfaced. Stambaugh is a white male, who is five-feet-nine inches tall and weighs around 180 pounds with grey hair and hazel eyes. If anyone has information into his whereabouts, contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.
