Yavapai County forest patrol deputies, along with members of the Prescott National Forest teamed up to rescue a couple on February 7th, who had been snowed in at the their home in the Mount Union area. The couple began to run critically low on supplies and prescription medication. Deputies initially attempted to make it to the area, but were unable to due to three feet of snow and ice. County search and rescue volunteers were called in to help. They too failed to get into the area. A D7 bulldozer was brought in, and was able to plow through the snow and ice and get to the house. The road was plowed enough so the couple could drive out to get supplies and the medicine they needed. In recent weeks, YCSO has received multiple calls for help in the area stretching from Palace Station to Mt. Union, due to being trapped in the snow.
