A Nogales man was arrested last week after Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies seized more than ten pounds of heroin during a traffic stop on northbound Interstate-17. Deputies pulled over 47-year-old Eduardo Bororquez-Obeso for moving violations last Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Middle Verde Road, driving a white 2011 Ford F-150. Eduardo told deputies he was headed to Flagstaff from Nogales to pick up a friend, then return to Nogales that night. The deputy suspected Eduardo of transporting illegal drugs and asked the man to search the truck. After agreeing, K9 “Vader” searched and found the drugs in a false floor of the toolbox in the bed of the truck. Deputies found seven packages of heroin that weighed a pound and a half each. The estimated street value is $450-thousand dollars. Eduardo was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on drug charges and is being held on $100-thousand dollars bond.
