It was a busy weekend for Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies. Authorities were called to an area north of Seligman on the discovery of human remains Sunday afternoon. The reporting party found a vehicle with a collapsed tent on an empty parcel of land. When they looked at the tent, they saw the remains, which had been scattered by animal activity. Due to the condition of the remains, a positive identification couldn’t be made at the scene. Foul play is not suspected and the case remains under investigation. Then on Sunday evening deputies were called to a motorcycle accident on Cornville Road at the switchbacks near Cornville. When deputies arrived they found two people on the ground, next to the motorcycle. Both were injured, but were awake and alert. Witnesses say they saw the motorcycle driving at a high rate of speed and driving erratically as it approached the switchbacks. The two were flown to Flagstaff Medical Center, then to a Phoenix hospital for further treatment of serious and critical injuries. The incident is also being investigated.
