Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies help make multiple rescues on the Agua Fria River near Mayer Friday. At around 7:30 p.m. YCSO deputies, Mayer Fire, DPS and others assisted with multiple rescues in Mayer. A group of recreational all-terrain vehicle riders found themselves swept away by flood waters. One couple rolled their side-by-side and became stuck in a high point of the river. Quick acting deputies were able to coordinate the rescues without needed to deploy the swiftwater rescue team. Another man and his ATV were washed away by waters, but managed to self-rescue and make his way back up the river. Another man went missing after flooding. The stranded couple and the missing man were eventually found and rescued by first responders.
