The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office played a role in capturing a wanted man out of Coconino County Tuesday. YCSO personnel were in Cottonwood to respond to a location of a fugitive, who was barricaded in a home on Cedar Lane. Authorities say 19-year-old Daniel Lopez had a warrant out for his arrest for aggravated assault with a weapon and other felony charges out of Coconino County. Members of the YCSO SWAT and a U.S. Marshal’s Task Force Had been on scene for hours, confirming Lopez was at the home. Mountain View School is nearby, and deputies were on scene there to ensure the safe release of students and faculty at the school. Detectives escorted the kids who lived in the area of Cedar Lane to a secure location to meet with parents. Lopez was taken into custody, after he fled from the home on foot and was stopped by SWAT members, who had a perimeter set up around the area. No one was hurt.
