Two men have been arrested in connection with a jewelry sales scam taking place across Yavapai County. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies, along with help from the Prescott Valley and Sedona police departments, arrested 29-year-old Danut Perianu of Fontana, California and 24-year-old Aurel Dumitru for sales of fraudulent gold jewelry and theft. Authorities have been working the case involving a small group of scammers selling fraudulent gold jewelry to unsuspecting victims for almost three months. Wednesday, a vehicle matching the description of the suspects was seen at the Circle K on Highway 69 and North Kings Highway East in Prescott Valley. At the store, a group of people were selling jewelry from the trunk of the vehicle. The two were arrested and taken to the Yavapai County Jail. The case is under investigation and additional charges will be filed.
