YCSO Arrest A Man After Shooting A Woman, Then Kidnapping His Wife And Young Child Saturday In Cordes Lakes

Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man last Saturday for an attempted homicide in Cordes Lakes. At around 1:15 p.m., deputies were called to Marble Canyon Way in Cordes Lakes on a report of a woman who had been shot at a home. Officials say the 43-year-old woman, who lives next door to the suspect, went to his home to tell him his dog was loose. The suspect, 31-year-old Joshua Jackson, shot her in the neck while she was trying to tell him about his dog. The woman was able to take cover behind a large tree trimming truck. After shooting the woman, Jackson went inside the house and shot at his wife, holding her against her will as she tried to escape with their 18-month-old child. Two deputies arrived first, then a DPS State Trooper arrived, followed by a YCSO SWAT team. A 911 dispatch operator was able to engage Jackson on the phone and was able to get him to agree to surrender. The woman was airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital for treatment of her gunshot wound. She was released from the hospital that evening. Jackson admitted to both crimes saying he was “getting the devil out of both victims.” He’s been booked on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of kidnapping per domestic violence and more.
