Yavapai County law enforcement officials confiscated pounds of meth and fentanyl pills during a recent traffic stop on Interstate-17 near Cordes Lakes Tuesday night. When deputies approached the vehicle, the driver, 33-year-old Ryan Ellman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was showing physical signs of nervousness. When he was asked about his erratic driving, he stated that he “was falling asleep.” After further discussion deputies deployed their K9 “Max” who alerted deputies to the odor of narcotics. Upon a probable cause search of the vehicle, deputies located two large duffel bags in the trunk containing 53 pounds of meth, 36 pounds of multicolored m-30 fentanyl pills, which amounted to 120-thousand pills. Deputies also found five kilograms of cocaine, along with personal use heroin, meth, cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and three firearms, that were discovered in the front and backseat of the vehicle. Ellman was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail for two counts of transportation of a narcotic drug for sale, transportation of dangerous drugs for sale, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
