A 74-year-old Yarnell woman was struck and killed, while crossing Highway 89 Friday night at around 7 p.m. Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say the woman was hit by a vehicle driven by an off-duty YCSO Sergeant. Sheriff’s officials say the sergeant was on his way home from working his shift when the accident happened. The Department of Public Safety Vehicular Crimes Unit will investigate the incident and interview witnesses. The initial report says impairment was not a factor. The name of the sergeant is not yet being released.
