A man was stopped near New River on northbound Interstate-17 Monday morning after driving 37 miles the wrong way. DPS officials say the driver was headed southbound in the northbound lanes at around 1:50 a.m. Authorities say Andrew Michael White of Holly, Michigan, got on I-17 north of Cordes Junction and was stopped near New River by spike strips that law enforcement officials deployed. The maneuver flattened all four tires. Once the vehicle was stopped, White and a passenger were taken into custody. White was arrested on DUI-related charges and booked into jail. Thankfully there were no accidents along the way and no one was injured.
