U.S. Senate Passes Water Infrastructure Act, Which Will Help Tribes With Water Projects

The U.S. Senate passed The Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act Of 2021 Thursday. The legislation was cosponsored and shaped by Arizona Senator Mark Kelly and authorizes more then $35-billion for water infrastructure projects and will invest in drinking water and wastewater needs for the state and its 22 Native American tribes. In the act is the re-authorization of the Indian Reservation Drinking Water Program and provides $50-million yearly to the EPA to fund tribal water projects. Ten projects every year must be funded in the Lower Colorado River Basin. The bill was passed with a bipartisan vote. It now heads to the House of Representatives.
