Two People Airlifted To Phoenix Hospital After Multi-Vehicle Accident In Prescott Tuesday

Prescott Police Officers responded to a multi-vehicle injury collision at the intersection of Montezuma and Merritt Street Tuesday. Authorities say at about 4:17 p.m., a 27-year-old Pine resident was driving a 1998 Dodge truck northbound on Montezuma Street when he came to a red light at the intersection of Merritt Street with too much speed. The Dodge truck was unable to slow down and rear-ended a 2006 Toyota Solaris driven by a 63-year-old Prescott woman. The woman then rear-ended a 2018 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 59-year-old Prescott man. The driver of the Dodge truck and the Toyota Solaris were transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center, then were flown to a Phoenix area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The Prescott man driving the Jeep was treated on the scene for minor injuries. Traffic restrictions were in place for over an hour as officers investigated the incident. Officers say there were signs of impairment from the driver of the Dodge truck. A search warrant was performed on the man and charges are pending toxicology results.
