Two area wildfires are closer to being contained. The Cornville Fire burning near Cornville is in its final stages. Fire officials say it is 92-percent contained and has burned 1,240 acres. They say there is very little fire activity on the fire and crews are conducting mop-up operations. The Slate Fire is now 53-percent contained and has burned over 11-thousand acres. The fire saw some winds and a few sprinkles on it from thunderstorms in the area, however fire lines held and firefighters are getting the upper hand on the fire. Highway 180 is open, however speed limits lower to 35 miles per hour between Kendrick Park and Cedar Ranch.
