Ponderosa Fire crews responded to an accident on eastbound Interstate-40 Wednesday morning involving a tractor trailer. Officials say the semi-truck went down a 60-foot embankment at around 3:17 a.m. at milepost 189, between Flagstaff and Bellemont. DPS says the truck was heading westbound when for an unknown reason lost control and left the highway. When crews arrived they found the vehicle, it was wedged in the trees with two people inside. A crew from the Camp Navajo Fire Department arrived to assist with the extrication. Both people were taken from the cab with minor injuries. They were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
