Prescott Police have identified the two people who were killed in a two-vehicle, head-on, collision Friday morning on State Route 89A and Granite Dells Parkway. Police responded to the accident at around 7:30 a.m. The first officer arrived and found two severely damaged vehicles and the drivers of both, unconscious with life-threatening injuries. One of the vehicles, a blue Toyota pickup truck, had two kids ages two and four in the back seat at the time of the accident. Investigators say the Toyota, driven by a 33-year-old Trevor Stupey of Prescott Valley, was traveling westbound on State Route 89A and for an unknown reason, left the highway, then veered back across the center median and onto the eastbound side. That’s when a 2016 Dodge 5500 truck pulling a trailer of masonry block, driven by a 44-year-old Jose Trujillo-Beltran, also of Prescott Valley, was hit by the Toyota head-on at a high rate of speed. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Both children were airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
