A shoplifting at a Cottonwood grocery store leads to a drug arrest. Police say a man and a woman stole multiple drink containers from a display in front of the Starbucks area at the Safeway store in the 16-hundred block of East Cottonwood Street Wednesday. Officers were given a vehicle description and later found it in a gas station parking lot. Both occupants were confirmed to be the ones in connection with the shoplifting. Arrested were 31-year-old Renee Frances Blair and 44-year-old Octavious Cornelius Jones, both are from California. While talking with Renee, officers saw a clear plastic bag with a white powdery substance on the center console. They also found drug paraphernalia on her as well. After police brought out K-9 Otto to sniff the car, he alerted officers to more drugs, this time finding a bag of fentanyl pills and a bag of alprazolam, which is a drug to treat anxiety. They also found the items taken from Safeway. Both were booked on several felony drug charges, as well as theft and shoplifting.
