A 12-year-old boy was killed Sunday after he was hit by a vehicle while riding his skateboard in Kachina Village. Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies and the Highlands Fire Department were called to the intersection of Kachina Trail and Canyon Loop in Kachina Village at around 12:45 p.m. on a report of an accident. Paramedics were on scene when deputies arrived and were performing CPR on the boy. He sustained significant injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle has been cooperative with investigators and there was no impairment noted during the initial aspects of the investigation and has submitted to a blood test in which the results are pending. The incident is under further investigation by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Coconino County medical examiners office.

There is a GoFundMe page set up for the boy’s family for expenses.  Click here to go to the page.  On another note, we don’t make public the names of those under 18, unless they are charged as an adult with a crime.  It’s been our policy since day one.  Our prayers go out to the boy’s family and friends.
