Three runners with Flagstaff ties finished in the top-ten in the women’s race in Sunday’s New York City Marathon. Women’s Olympic marathon bronze medalist, Molly Seidel finished fourth in the race, but set a personal best and new American course record while doing so. She finished the marathon at two-hours, 24-minutes and 42-seconds, just over two minutes behind the top three finishers. The American course record was previously held by Kara Goucher in 2008. Seidel beat the record by more than a minute. The New York City Marathon was Seidel’s fourth-ever marathon and her first time running in the race. Northern Arizona Elite members Kellyn Taylor finished sixth and Stephanie Bruce was 10th.
