Three Lightning-Caused Wildfires Continue To Burn Intentionally Across Areas Of Coconino National Forest

Coconino National Forest Services are continuing to manage three lightning-caused wildfires near Volunteer Canyon, Sedona and near, but not directly in, West Clear Creek. Forest services say wildfires are a natural part of the process toward restoring and keeping the forest healthy. Crews have been working to confine the Miller Fire to be as small as possible, while the Volunteer and Wilbur Fires are being managed to move strategically across areas of the forest. Fire managers will continue to suppress or manage wildfires based on conditions and timing. The work to manage the three wildfires is part of the recently announced Wildfire Crisis Strategy to increase forest health rates over the next decade.
