The On Again Off Again Plans For An In-N-Out Flagstaff Location Could Be Back On

After years of talk and anticipation, it looks like plans for an In-N-Out Restaurant in Flagstaff are progressing. The sticking point for the restaurant was their wanting a left turn out of the site at 1840 South Milton Road, and onto the busy highway. ADOT reportedly pushed back and didn’t approve those plans. KAFF News has learned In-N-Out has backed off those plans and decided they are good with a median built on Milton Road that will prohibit a left turn from the old Pizza Hut and from Auto Zone. In-N-Out has received “tentative” approval for the location. ADOT tells KAFF News, “The developer’s plans now meet ADOT’s criteria, including an understanding of limited turn movements and a future median along Milton Road in that area. As a next step: an encroachment permit can be issued once ADOT staff receives and reviews traffic control plans along with bond and insurance documentation from the developer’s contractor.” The city would be next to move forward with the site plan and construction permits. In-N-Out released a statement to KAFF News saying, “we are currently in the development application process, so it’s too early to say when, or even if, we will be able to open a restaurant there.” They add, “we’re excited about the opportunity of opening a great location in Flagstaff, and we appreciate our customers who have shared their anticipation with us as well.” There has been some indication that the company has sent out bid invitations to local contractors on the site. There’s no word on when the restaurant could open. The popular burger spot will bring good jobs to Flagstaff, jobs that traditional pay a higher wage for employees. Also, a Whataburger Restaurant is being planned on Milton Road at South Plaza Way, at the site of the former Giant Gas Station.
