The Flagstaff Eagles improved to 2-0 to start the season after defeating the Washington Rams, 48-0 Friday night in the Skydome. After a slow start that saw a scoreless first quarter, the Eagles found their stride in the second quarter scoring 20 of their 48 points. The Eagles had a few big options on offense, big being the keyword. Senior tight end Nick Morrow was too much for the Rams to handle. Whenever Morrow was targeted, the 6-8 250 pound Cal football commit was swarmed by a handful of Ram defenders, leaving other Eagle receivers wide open. One of those players was junior wide receiver Jake Weidinger who at 6-3, still towers over the Ram secondary. Weidinger found himself in the endzone thanks to senior quarterback Bodie Maier, who completed three touchdown passes, all to junior wide receiver Holden Sena. Maier has now thrown seven touchdown passes in the Eagles first two games. Flagstaff looks to start the season 3-0 as the Mingus Marauders will travel to the Skydome. The game was originally set to be played at Mingus High in Cottonwood, but was changed due to construction being done on the Mingus field. Washington will head back home to host the Prescott Badgers next Friday.
