The City of Flagstaff is giving out free packs of ten KN95 masks at City Hall at no cost. KN95 masks are four-ply, tight fighting masks that are individually wrapped, with greater than 95-percent filtration, and less than eight-percent leakage. Mayor Paul Deasey took to social media this week about the giveaways and says, “KN95s are far more effective than cloth or surgical masks to protect from COVID and other airborne illnesses.” According to health officials, N95, KN95, and KF94 masks works the best due to the material with an electrostatic charge. Recent studies by Yale University, the Mayo Clinic and more say common cloth face masks do very little against the surging Omicron variant of COVID-19. Masks will be available at Flagstaff City Hall Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., until supplies last.
