The Chris Ball era is off to a great start after the NAU Lumberjacks beat the Missouri State Bears to open the 2019 season, 37-23, in the Skydome Thursday night. Brandon Porter had six catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns, and he passed for a 55 yard touchdown to Stacy Chukwumezie in the second quarter. Senior quarterback Case Cookus was 18-of-29 for 290 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The Lumberjacks amassed over 400 yards of total offense in the win. NAU will head south next Saturday to take on the Arizona Wildcats in Tucson. Kickoff is at 7:45 p.m. with the pregame show starting at 6:45 p.m. on KAFF Country Legends 93.5/AM 930 in Flagstaff.
