Suspect Arrested Three Days After Standoff In Kaibab Estates West Near Ash Fork

Three days after a standoff in the area of Quarry Road in Kaibab Estates West north of Ash Fork, a suspect has been arrested. Deputies arrived at the scene Monday after receiving a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival, it was discovered that two people were being held at the residence against their will. The male suspect, Nicholas Barone, was difficult and uncooperative, refusing to let the victims speak with authorities. Eventually, the two victims were safely evacuated and firearms were discovered in the residency. The suspect refused to be taken into custody and no other people were in the house so deputies fell back to an area further from the house. A search warrant was obtained for the next morning, and it was determined the suspect had several felony charges from the previous couple of weeks. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect again refused to comply and was taken into custody after a four-and-a-half hour effort. During the arrest, the suspect sustained injuries and was admitted into Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment. Hours later, the suspect was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility for two counts of unlawful imprisonment, two counts disorderly conduct with a weapon, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
