ADOT crews will intermittently close State Route 89A next week for ongoing work through the switchbacks in Oak Creek Canyon. Crews will be closing the road from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Tuesday night and lasting to Wednesday morning. They will close a two mile stretch north and south of the Pumphouse Wash Bridge. The closures will be for 15-minutes and occur twice per hour. Drivers should be prepared to stop and use caution around construction personnel and equipment, or consider using an alternate route, while the closures are in place. The work is part of the bridge rehabilitation project portion of the State Route 89A Oak Creek Canyon Improvements project, which also includes rockfall mitigation and erosion control work.
