A small plane crashed in Prescott Sunday morning. Shortly after taking off from the Prescott Regional Airport at around 9 a.m., the pilot of a Cessna 172 reported that he “lost his engine.” The pilot landed in a vacant scrubland just to the east of Willow Creek Road in between James Lane and Warrior Way, and flipped over. The pilot was the only person onboard and was not injured, however, he was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center to be checked out as a precaution. There’s no word on what caused the engine failure. The National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the emergency landing.
