Senior Scam Prevention Seminar This Week In Flagstaff

If you are a senior citizen and worried about the uptick in scams directed at seniors, there is an educational seminar this week in Flagstaff. The seminar titled: “Senior Scams and Fraud Protection” will be held this Friday at The Peaks Senior Living Community at 1 p.m. The seminar will go over scams targeting seniors today, including tactics scammers use, red flags to watch out for and resources to protect yourself. Brian Watson, who conducts the seminars says some red flags are “asking you to go to the store and buy a pre-paid card, or they send you a QR code and they tell you to go to a liquor store and use a bit coin ATM.” He adds, “I’ve met way too many victims who found themselves at these stores feeding cash, currency, into an ATM and they lose it.” The seminar is being conducted with a partnership with the Flagstaff Police Department, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and ROSE, Resources Outreach to Safeguard the Elderly. It’s free to attend, but you need to text or call Paige at (928) 890-8606. Spaces are limited.
