Sedona Fire crews were called to Oak Creek Canyon Sunday on a call of an eight-year-old girl who fell 75-feet in Oak Creek Canyon. Multiple crews responded to an area a half-mile from Slide Rock State Park at around 12:30 p.m. The girl had been walking along Highway 89a, outside of the guardrail, when she fell down the canyon. Paramedics and EMTs used a rope system to get to the girl to treat her. During the operation, Highway 89A was closed in both directions. She was secured and brought back up to the highway to an ambulance, which took her to a nearby landing zone. She was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. There is no word on her injuries or her condition.
